It’s that time of year when we connect with all BBS members, potential members and corporate sponsors to ask for your support in helping continue our unique and essential charity work of providing assistance to distressed Brits in need.

The British Benevolent Society of California is a very unique charity and the only one of its kind in the US! Your membership helps us to continue this special work of helping those less fortunate, and in turn promotes British benevolence in our own community.

With the help of BBS members we can:

  • Continue to provide aid and relief to distressed British nationals in dire need of assistance.
  • Partner with the British Consulates General in San Francisco and Los Angeles to ensure people know where to find us.
  • Follow the tradition that began in 1858 to help those that need it the most.

We were very excited to have the Three of US, (http://www.thesunkings.com/zpproductions.html), the Bay Area Beatles tribute band and a spin-off of the Sun Kings. We had a great dinner prepared by resident SBYC’s Chef John and his team, followed by music and dancing to a whole array of Beatles fab favorites. The wine served before and after dinner was donated by Naked Wines, (www.nakedwines.com) raffle prizes were also donated by Naked Wines, Kathleen Kimura, Peter Brook and Karen Thomas with a variety of other Beatles memorabilia prizes being offered.

Many thanks also go to Tom, Ken & Roger, South Beach Yacht Club volunteer barmen, BBS’s Karen Thomas and Jackie Bowen, volunteers on our Social Committee, and Susan Goodier our fab Executive Administrator.

South Beach Yacht Club overlooks South Beach Harbor filled and its many yachts with the Bay Bridge and the East Bay in the distance. Feedback already received said that this is the perfect location for this type of event and we hope to hold another event there next year. See you then!
